Look Good… Feel Better
It’s no big secret that I’ve been sick lately. Actually, I’ve been sick A LOT lately. I’ve stopped blogging about it, because no one wants to keep reading posts about how big my tonsils have gotten or how tired I am or how my throat hurts AGAIN. It’s like “enough already”.
I am like “enough already”! (So I did finally schedule a date to have the swollen suckers cut out.)
I have to admit, when I am feeling crappy, how I look pretty much takes a back burner…waaaaay in the back. I think I actually went to pick up Little J from school in my pajamas once this year. (I sleep in an old pair of sweats, so it wasn’t quite as dramatic as it sounds.)
When I finally got around to showering and putting on some make-up, people were amazed with my recovery. “So glad you’re feeling better” they said. “Wow! You finally got over that bug!”
Actually, I was still sick and feeling pretty crappy, but being a little spiffed up did have the effect of making me feel a bit better. Ever had that experience?
If you have, then you’ll really appreciate what Look Good…Feel Better does for cancer patients.
It is a free, national public service program that helps women cope with the appearance-related changes of cancer treatment through workshops across the country, self-help materials, and other free information. Look Good…Feel Better is a collaboration of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society, Inc. and the National Cosmetology Association.
In celebration of its 20th year, Look Good…Feel Better has launched a search for five inspirational women who can help spread the word of their experience with Look Good…Feel Better and inspire others who may be fighting cancer right now. Entries will be featured on the site’s blog and comments of support are encouraged.
In August, five women will be chosen to receive a trip to New York City for a makeover and a trip to the DreamBall, a black-tie gala and the program’s largest annual fundraiser, held each year in New York City.
Please help spread the word and make this a success. It is estimated that about one in three women will receive a cancer diagnosis in her lifetime.

I totally agree… When you look good, you will certainly feel better (or at least others think that you feel better). ^_^
