Our Mayor is No Cream Puff!!
For anyone who hasn’t heard the reports, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was severely beaten Saturday after coming to the aid of a woman in the middle of a domestic dispute. Reports say that Mayor Barrett stepped in after hearing the woman’s cries for help and was struck repeatedly in the head and torso with a metal pipe. Police said the woman was a grandmother who was trying to protect her 1-year-old granddaughter from a 20-year-old man who has since been arrested.
Mayor Barrett was transported to Froedtert Medical Center when he underwent surgery and is now home resting and recovering. In addition to hearing personally from President Obama, Mayor Barrett received calls from numerous politicians including Vice President Joe Biden, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
But now, an even greater tribute has been announced. Milwaukee’s Brew City Brand Apparel has designed a tee-shirt to honor our courageous mayor. The t-shirt reads, “Our Mayor Ain’t No Cream Puff.” Underneath, there is a “B” shield and copy which reads, “Tom Barrett is our Hero.”
The tee-shirt design will be available at Brew City Beer Gear, Grand Avenue Mall in Milwaukee and online at http://www.brewcityonline.com/ and will retail for $12.99. Shirts went on sale this morning and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Mayor’s Task Force on Family and Domestic Violence.
