Celebrate National Seafood Month with SeaPak

As someone who grew up on the East Coast, I am pretty sure that salt water runs through my veins and is responsible for my absolute love for seafood.  Crab, shrimp, clams, lobster, fish – you name it, I love it all. Easy access to fresh, affordable seafood is one of the things that I really miss since moving to Wisconsin.  I have been on a personal search for yummy frozen seafood that I can use to soothe my cravings.  

SeaPak informed me that October is National Seafood Month (I had no idea, but approve whole-heartedly!) and offered to send some of their shrimp over for me to try. They are also holding a Shrimptacular celebration and giving away weekly prizes over on their website!!  I was pretty excited when this big box showed up on my doorstep!  (Jay, who likes shrimp but is not as much of a seafood nut as I am, was dubious to say the least.)

We got to try the Coconut Shrimp, Light and Crispy Shrimp, Shrimp Spring Rolls, Tempura Shrimp, and Shrimp Scampi.  The “family size” boxes are very generous and would actually feed a family. (I realize that sounds like a given, but some companies’ version of “family sized” make me scratch my head.)

We decided to have our own Shrimptacular celebration and try a little of both the Tempura Shrimp and the Coconut Shrimp.  They baked up quick and easy in the oven.  What I really liked  was that each box of shrimp came with its own sauce already prepared and matched so perfectly with each kind of shrimp.

Another night, we treated ourselves to an appetizer of Shrimp Spring Rolls.  Jay declared that they were better than the local Chinese restaurant!! That’s high praise from a land-lubber like him.  Even Mr. Picky-Eater (LJ) loved all the different varieties.

Any of these dishes along with a salad make a fabulous lunch or dinner, in my opinion.  SeaPak will definitely become a regular item on my shopping list.  (I did a little checking around and was happy to see that most of the grocery stores in my area carry a wide variety of SeaPak products!)
