Three Easter Birds Nest Recipes
Easter is just around the corner and we are having all kinds of fun planning and crafting away in preparation. One of my favorite Easter treats is making Birds Nests even though each person in my house has a different “favorite” nest recipe.
I thought this might be a good time to share our three favorite Birds Nest recipes with you. These are delicious, adorable, and easy enough to make that the kids can help out.
LJ has been a Rice Krispies fan ever since he tasted his first one, so I guess it makes sense that his favorite nest is made out of Cocoa Krispies. This one doesn’t even need a recipe! Just melt a little butter in a sauce pan, add marshmallows and continue to melt on medium low until they are liquid. Add your Cocoa Krispies until you have the desired balance of marshmallow to Krispie. (Here’s a helpful tip that I wish someone had told me – let the mixture begin to harden a bit before molding it into a nest. My first few nests fell apart before the marshmallow began to harden enough to keep them together.) Once the nests are cool, fill them with CADBURY Mini Eggs.
Jay’s favorite nest is one I had not tried before. We took chow mein noodles and tossed them in melted butterscotch and peanut butter. I used a 2:1 ratio of butterscotch chips to peanut butter and the taste and consistency were just perfect. I tossed the noodle in the mixture until they were coated, but not dripping with it and then used a small ramekin dish to mold my nest. An hour in the fridge set it nicely! Once again we filled the nest with CADBURY Mini Eggs.
I’m a bit of a chocoholic, so it’s no surprise which nest is my favorite. I love the mix of salty and sweet plus the crunch – ahhhhh, perfection. My nest is also super easy to make. I simply melted down a half a bag of chocolate kisses and then stirred in some potato sticks. Once again, I used a ramekin dish as my mold and refrigerated it until it was solid. I think this one looks the most like an actual nest, and the CADBURY Mini Eggs look totally authentic, don’t you think?
You could easily customize these even more by changing up what you put in the nest. Jelly Beans or mini Cream Eggs would work just as well!

You just reminded me…I need to get the ingredients for our annual bird’s nests! I make them with chow mein noodles and dark chocolate chips. I’m going to give your butterscotch and peanut butter chips chow mein egg nests variation a try! Mmmm!
My favorite tradition is making brunch for my family. I want to make the foil egg wreath.
Awe, those are so cute! I am just beginning to really enjoy cute and festive things. How did I miss them all hose years? Thinking they were not important, but they are! The smile you get when you see one, then the smile when you help your grandchildren make them and of course the smile that reminds me I never appreciated these things before.

These bird’s nests are so creative and fun. I love the different varieties, especially the chocolate potato chips and chow mien noodles.
My Memaw always made the chow mien with butterscotch ones every year for Easter. After several years she was up in years, and we would help her so she could always bring them to our family get togethers. Eventually my sister took over the tradition. Now I make them for church gatherings and such. But we have so many allergic to gluten that I have switched to using potato sticks, still just as good and much more cost effective.
