Random Ramblings

So, I am still not feeling great. My eyes are so red that I think I traumatized several small children when I went to Target to get my eye drop prescription (even the babies were staring). My parents have been lifesavers and have taken Little J all week.

Before I fell ill to this nasty bug, Big J and I (okay, mostly him) did a bit of landscaping. We had a row of trees separating our yard from the house behind us. They were prone to getting their leaves late and loosing them early so we replaced them with some evergreens. We bought them at a local nursery since they have a customer rewards program, even though the help there stinks. Two days later, I found out that Home Depot (who are always more helpful!!) also has a garden club.

Who knew? You can sign up for it here and get coupons, advice, and all sorts of free benefits!!

AND I found this cool eco-newsletter with all kinds of green tips called Ideal Bite. It’s been featured in a bunch of magazines like Elle and Oprah. Check it out, it’s written for people like us who aren’t ready to, you know, go live in grass huts. You can sign up for it here.

Well, I’m off to down another ice cream shake – the only good part of having a sore throat!

Update: My tonsillitis/conjunctivitis turned into an ear infection that got really bad really fast. When it got to the point where I couldn’t stand the pain anymore, I called the nurses’ line at my doctor’s office. I was on the phone with the nurse when I heard a popping noise and it felt like my ear cleared. The next thing I know, a stream of liquid is dripping out of my ear and the nurse tells me that she is pretty sure my eardrum ruptured. Off I went to Urgent Care (again) where the doctor informed me I had raging ear infections in both my ears. Drops and stronger antibiotics were prescribed.

My follow up visit today showed that both my eardrums have holes in them which would explain why I have decreased hearing in both ears. Tomorrow I’m off to an ENT to find out if the damage is fixable. *crosses fingers*
