OxiClean Dishwashing Booster Saved My Glasses!

My community is served by a town well.  Because of this, our water is hard, I mean REALLY hard.  When I brought it to be tested at a local company, the guy looked at me in amazement and asked me “Where did you say you got this sample?”

We installed a water softener and it has solved a lot of our issues. My laundry now comes out cleaner, shampoo will actually suds up in the shower, and life is generally good.

Except for our dishes.

Every time I put glass in our dishwasher, it comes out looking cloudy.  As in looks-like-someone-forgot-to-wash-it cloudy.  I wasn’t sure if it was the hard water, the dishwasher getting older, or the changes they made to the formulation of the detergent.  I had resigned myself to hand washing glass in the sink, but that seems like kind of a waste – and did I mention that I hate dishes? Oh yeah, I did.

It turns out that I am not the only one unsure of why my dishes are cloudy. OxiClean did a survey and here are some results:
  • 69% of respondents either do not know what phosphates are (14%) or that they were banned from dishwashing detergents (55%)
  • 49% feel frustrated because they don’t know what’s causing the spots on dishes
  • Top three things that consumers believe cause the spots/cloudy dishes are dishwashing detergent (50%), hard water (34%), dishwasher not working well (30%)
  • Over half (56%) have switched their detergent 2-5 times
  • 88% agree or strongly agree that it is embarrassing to serve on dishes that have spots or are cloudy
  • Almost 1 in 3 (32%) say their biggest kitchen challenge is achieving sparkly dishes; 30% say spots on dishes are their biggest kitchen complaint
I was excited to give OxiClean Dishwashing Booster a try. I have used other OxiClean products and always been very happy with the results!  So here’s my experience…

This is one of our drinking glasses fresh out of the dishwasher.  While it is clean, you can still see white stripes running up the sides making it look much less than clean.

This is the same glass after going through one cycle in the dishwasher with the same detergent and the addition of OxiClean Dishwashing Boost.  I notice a significant difference – do you?

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I’m pretty much sold on the stuff and am grateful not to have to serve drinks in glasses that look like I was too lazy to wash them!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of OxiClean and received a product sample and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
