Ouch – it wasn’t supposed to hurt!

So I spent today (and will be spending tomorrow) in a large lecture hall with other educational coaches and mentors learning about the finer points of coaching. It’s part of Cardinal Stritch’s coaching certificate program which I enrolled in earlier this year.
As boring as it may sound, I have actually found these classes to be quite helpful and even *gasp* interesting. It’s great to pick the brain of other people who do the same thing I do and see what has worked (or not) for them. There aren’t a lot of Instructional Coaches out there, so I have to take advantage of these opportunities when they come up.
Today was going swimmingly until about 10:30 when the overhead projector image started to blur and I felt that warning pressure behind my eyes. “Oh crap,” I thought. “Here it comes.”
The dreaded migraine.
It always shows up when I don’t have time to deal with it. I’ve tried the whole medication route in the past – Imitrex, Topamax, you name it. So far, nothing has worked. My GP seems to be at a loss and is ready to pass me off to a neurologist.
So I’m asking you guys, since I know many of you suffer from migraines too: how do you deal when curling up in a dark bedroom isn’t an option? Any good home remedies that have worked for you?
I knew right away when you said the image started to blur that you were talking about getting a migraine. I have blurred vision and light flashes before my migraines hit. If I can get Excedrin down right when I start seeing the light flashes it usually keeps the migraine from going full blown. It is just a bad headache, and I can deal with that. I’ve never actually taken prescription drugs for it.
I have gone to the chiropractor for it and that seemed to help. If you get them regularly try a good/trusted chiro. It may help.
Good luck!
First of all, I love your pic, lol.
Secondly, do you take and prescribed meds? They kind of knock me out, but I also take 3 Advil and they seem to work……for a while, but then it comes back. But it’s better than nothing.
