Avoid dangerous drug interactions…

I have to admit, with the economy the way it is right now, I am becoming a bit of a bargain shopper. We are lucky enough to have quite a few major retailers, many with their own pharmacies, in the immediate area.

Each week, the stores all provide benefits to try and get you to fill your prescriptions at their store – free gift cards, 10% off purchases, etc. It’s a great way to economize and get a little extra for something that you are going to have to buy either way, but it does leave you more vulnerable to drug interactions as you wind up with prescriptions at different stores all over town.

Luckily, drugs.com has come up with a wonderful solution! It’s a a new program called Mednotes that allows you to keep track of medical information for you and your entire family. The best part is that this “personalized medication management program” is completely free. After entering your family medical conditions in the site, Mednotes will notify you when FDA Alerts are issued that apply to any of your family’s medical conditions. You can even print out a report to take to your doctor. It is really a neat tool. On each personal family member profile you create, you can enter the names of all the medications being taken and then register to receive drug safety or interaction alerts to ultimately help reduce dangerous side effects and avoid unwanted drug interactions.
