The New Fall Line-up

As excited as I am for a new season of my favorite shows (Lost, Gray’s Anatomy), there has been a new line-up in TV that had me practically shaking in anticipation – PBS’s new kid shows!

I should preface this with a little explanation. We were always a Playhouse Disney family when Little J was younger. He did love his Wiggles and Mickey Mouse! As he got older, the shows didn’t provide quite enough substance to hold his interest. (With a big exception for the new Imagination Movers show – we all are loving that one!!)

Then we discovered PBS. Little J fell in love with the preschool shows: Word World, Word Girl, Curious George, Dragon Tails. The problem was that before we knew it, he had seen all of them. Since the kid has a memory like an elephant, he had no interest in watching them more than once.

Thank God for the new fall line-up. Sid the Science Kid and Martha Speaks have again sparked his interest and added to his vocabulary. Seriously, he spent half an hour yesterday talking about looking at bugs through a magnifying glass after seeing it done on Sid.

Well done PBS!

  1. We love PBS around here. But you are so right about the repeating! It gets annoying. We are also digging the new programming.
