Okay, maybe I’ve changed my mind…
I have to admit, when I first moved to WI back in 2000, I did not have a very favorable opinion of The Dells. I had taken a computer class with another teacher at a local high school and we had briefly driven through the area during the off season.
The only word that came to mind was “tacky”.
After having spent Memorial Day weekend there with Big J and Little J, I have to say that I have changed my mind (for the most part).
Yes, there are some pretty tacky areas and attractions – Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum?? Ew! (Now, it is probably pretty cool if you are into that stuff, but shrunken heads just creep me out!)
And what the heck is a Torture Museum??? We didn’t even go near that one!Fudge shops on every corner with moccasin stores on either side…you get the picture.
But there are parts of The Dells that are breathtaking. We did the boat cruise of the upper dells and the scenery was beautiful!

The Tommy Bartlett Exploratory was a huge hot with us. It’s got all the features of an interactive science museum and lets you feel like you are embarking on an outer space adventure. Very cool!
And I have to admit, Little J was in heaven at the waterpark(s). Can’t beat that!!
On a rather unrelated note…be sure to check out this great new resource for all of those “mom questions” that come up!!
I love the Dells! There’s so much fun stuff to do there.
The Dells seem a lot more fun WITH children! Or at least that’s what I thought! LOL!
I’m following you from the Follow Me Club @ MBC!
