Smarter than your average bear…
On Saturday, Big J, Little J, and I headed off to the Milwaukee County Zoo for their annual trick-or-treat/Boo at the Zoo. We had a great time but missed seeing one of our favorite “friends”.
Zero the polar bear.
See, Zero was playing with one of his toys a few weeks ago and wasn’t watching where he was going. (Little J has this same problem with his Leapster.) Zero fell into the dry moat surrounding his spacious island. Luckily there were nets put up for just such an occasion and he was not hurt.
This is not Zero’s first time in the most. Years ago, the same thing happened and Zero climbed back out on his own. This time, Zero seems perfectly happy to stay in the moat. After several weeks, zookeepers have decided to put a cage loaded with Zero’s favorite foods into the moat. When Zero enters, the door will shut and he will be hoisted back up.
But Zero is not interested in the food in the cage. I think he may know what will happen if he enters. My theory? Zero is hiding in the moat to avoid all of the political ads. (Personally, I’m about ready to join him.) Just watch, November 5th he will climb back out of the moat, happy as can be.
I saw that you entered a giveaway to win a Starbucks Gift Card and thought you would like my Giveaway!

I’d heard about Zero on the news. I wish I had a moat I could climb into to avoid all the election coverage. 😉
