Ham for the Holidays
As the weather gets colder, my taste in food changes (as I’m sure most peoples’ do). I’m less of a “salad person” and more of a “comfort-food” person. The holidays are a perfect time to over indulge in some yummy comfort foods while enjoying the company of my family.
When the folks at Cook’s Hams approached me and asked if I’d like to try one of their hams, I jumped at the chance. Nothing says family dinner like ham!
Now, I have to admit that I have not always been a ham lover and for a long time thought I didn’t like ham. It turns out that I am just really picky about what kind of ham I like.
When I was young, my grandmother used to serve canned ham which was where I got the idea that I didn’t like ham. (Personally, I don’t think meat should ever come out of a can, but that’s just my opinion.) It wasn’t until my uncle raised a pig and we had it for Easter dinner (I know, it’s sad) that I realized I actually like ham – if it’s good ham.
Soooo I can offer my expert-I-used-to-hate-ham-when-I-was-younger opinion that the spiral baked ham I got from Cook’s was superb. In fact, it rivals those fancy hams from that exclusive ham store – you know the one I’m talking about, right? And at a fraction of the cost!
And the leftovers!! If you’re looking for ideas of what to do with all of the leftovers, check out some great ham recipes and ideas.
Disclosure: The folks at Cook’s provided me with a delicious, juicy, tasty ham for review. The opinions expressed in my blog are my own and are no way influenced by any compensation.
My husband and I were talking about hams yesterday and we went to Honey Baked Ham and bought one!
Did you see the tortilla x-mas tree recipe in the link you provided for Cook’s ham? I am giving them a try. Thanks for sharing!
