It’s Coming…

Even though the calender still reads “August” and the air conditioner is still humming away, there is a not-so-faint drumbeat that can be heard in the distance.
Summer is coming to a close and “Back to School” is the new headline on every store circular that lands on our doorstep. Fall is almost here and those big yellow school buses will be rounding the bend shortly.
We had Little J’s “Meet the Teacher” night last night. (I have to say that I enjoy these events soooo much more when I am on the parents’ side of the desk.) I have already started meeting with the teachers that I coach to prepare for the upcoming year and Monday will be the New Teacher Orientation. For me, summer is just about over.
But not completely…and we are going to squeeze in every last minute we can: inflatable pool swims, bike rides, scooter rides, and trips to the zoo.
What last few things are you going to squeeze into your remaining summer days?
Hopefully we will spend the whole weekend on the boat. Then next weekend up to the cabin we go and the following weekend the county fair! Yay! In between weekends we’ll be outside as much as the weather permits.
Where did summer go?
We have a cabin weekend lined up, and weddings and baptisims.
We met Boo’s teacher last night, at her first grade testing. It is nice to have that few minutes alone, it makes it so much easier to get the small quirks in during a conversation.
Does moving across the country count? 🙂 We miss you guys already!
School starts on Wednesday — Wednesday!! — for us, so we hit the water park yesterday and we’ve got a back-to-school swim party at our house today. Mostly, then, I’ll be squeezing in laundry and cleaning.
