Treat Dad to a “SteakCation” at LongHorn Steakhouse for Father’s Day

Over the years, I’ve gotten pretty good at grilling. I make awesome grilled veggies, chicken wings, and even pizza. But the one thing I have never managed to perfectly master is grilling a perfect steak. That task always falls to my husband. My steaks wind up either still bleeding or resembling beef jerky. This leaves me with a dilemma come Father’s Day – I can’t really ask Jay to grill his own Father’s Day dinner, can I?
Luckily, LongHorn Steakhouse has the perfect solution! We were asked to stop into our local LongHorn Steakhouse and give them a trial run as a Father’s Day dinner solution to my problem. (Milwaukee area folks – YES, there is a LongHorn Steakhouse nearby! I can’t tell you how many people told me they had no idea there was even one in the area. It’s located in front of Southridge Mall in Greendale. It’s only about 2 months old according to our waitress.)
We headed out on a Saturday night and were worried we’d have to wait a long time, but wound up waiting less than a half hour during prime dinner hours. It was a gorgeous day and we waited outside enjoying the pleasant weather and blue sky.

Once we were seated, our waitress came over right away and set us up with drinks and took our order. I have to add that I LOVE the interior layout of LongHorn. You know how so many restaurants cram you in like sardines and how you can’t push your chair back to get up without hitting the person behind you? None of that at LongHorn! The layout is very spacious and I actually felt like we had some privacy while talking at our table.
We ordered Parmesan Crusted Asparagus (a special available right now) and the LongHorn Shrimp & Lobster Dip™ as appetizers. Both were delicious and disappeared quickly!

Even though there were seven different cuts to choose from, Jay and I both ordered the Smokey Double Bacon Sirloin since it was a limited time special and looked amazing (while LJ ordered a hotdog – I know, I’m thinking there may have been a mix-up at the hospital…). The meat was done perfectly – exactly as I had asked – and was flavorful and tender. Both LJ and Jay got the bacon macaroni and cheese as sides and raved and raved about it. I was “good” and got more asparagus as my side. Did I mention that I love asparagus??

At this point, we were pretty stuffed but felt we should at least try a dessert, you know – for reporting purposes. (The things I do for you, my readers!!) We chose the Chocolate Stampede® which said it “might need to be shared with a friend”. Ha!! When it arrived, we realized we needed another four or five friends to finish this one. But, boy it was fun trying!!

We were thrilled with our entire experience at LongHorn Steakhouse and will definitely be returning (hopefully soon!). But what if you want to create the LongHorn Steakhouse experience at home? LongHorn was nice enough to share the following grilling tips to help you achieve that “perfectly done” steak on your own grill.

And just in case you have trouble with tip #5, LongHorn Steakhouse has their own high quality steak knives for sale. (Great gift for dad!!)

Where can I purchase Longhorn steak knifes ???
You would need to purchase them from your nearest Longhorn restaurant.
