Help Kidd O’Shea Get on LIVE! with Regis and Kelly

I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely a creature of habit in the mornings.  I have my routine and can pretty much time getting myself and LJ out the door down to the minute.  Part of my routine consists of listening to Kidd and Elizabeth on WMYX 99.1 The Mix every morning.  (It’s kind of like visiting with friends who don’t expect me to actually answer back or be cheery before I’ve had my coffee.)

While many folks in entertainment spend years cultivating an image, Kidd is just himself.  He doesn’t put on airs or worry about looking silly.  Often, you can see him on WISN Channel 12 braving the winter weather or swimming with the seals at the zoo.  When I had the chance to meet and chat with Kidd last year at a press event, I was thrilled to find that he is exactly the same off the air as he is on – just a likable, everyday guy.

So who better to represent Milwaukee on national TV???

Kidd O’Shea is up for a spot co-hosting LIVE! with Regis and Kelly shown weekday mornings on ABC. The winner will be chosen by the viewers’ votes and he NEEDS YOUR HELP to land this coveted spot!

I told Kidd that I’d love to help him by encouraging Wisconsin Mommy readers to support him in this quest and he graciously offered to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions for me.

Wisconsin Mommy: How long have you been in entertainment and how did you get started?

Kidd O’Shea: I have been working on the radio since I was 16 years old. I started working at WTKM-FM in Hartford Wisconsin which is home of “All Polka” music. They hired me over the phone to push buttons and be a DJ from 1a-7a on Sundays. I worked there for 3 months before I decided it was time for “The Big City” when I called WKTI to see if they had any jobs. They hired me to push buttons for weekend syndication shows like Casey Kasem. I eventually started doing on-air work on weekend morning through high school and later was moved to full-time nights. In 2004 99.1 The Mix hired me to do afternoons and one year later I was moved to mornings.

My family will tell you I have been doing radio since I could talk. I used to “broadcast” from my bedroom and record tapes of my “show'” and give it to other radio DJ’s to critique.

WM: How did you get involved in the Regis and Kelly contest?

KO: I heard about it on their show and started making videos and trying to get people to nominate me on the first day the contest started.

WM: If you win the contest, what exactly will you be doing on the show?

KO: I believe you host the entire hour long show with Kelly. It would be a dream come true. When I was younger I would sit at the dinning room table and pretend I was hosting a show with a co-host. My brother and sister would walk past and make fun of me for talking to myself and pretending someone was sitting next to me.

WM: How will you positively represent Milwaukee while in New York?

KO: Milwaukee is my hometown…I love this city. Every time I travel (which is A LOT) I always promote the city and let people know about all the things we have to offer. From our wonderful Art Museum, to one of the finest Zoo’s in the country to our award winning parks and lakefront. You can’t find another city like ours anywhere, and I think that is what makes it unique and a wonderful place to live.

WM: What can we do to make sure that YOU are picked for the Regis and Kelly show?

KO: You can SHARE THE LINK on the Regis and Kelly website. I need as many people to find my name on the list and click share on facebook or twitter. It takes only a few seconds and it will show Regis and Kelly that Milwaukee is serious about making it on national TV.

(By sharing the link between now and Monday, you can help Kidd make the next cut and be one of the top 10 contestants.  Scroll down to the “K” section and share the link with your Twitter and Facebook connections. Starting Monday, you can vote for him to be the final choice.)

So what do you say Milwaukee?  Can we get Kidd on national TV?????
