The Easy Way to Buy Tires – Online!!
A few years ago, we needed to replace the tires on our older SUV. I set out to research what the best tires would be and then shopped around trying to find the lowest price. You’d think that wouldn’t be too much of a challenge, right? Wrong! It was an absolute headache! Halfway through driving from one tire place to the next, I thought to myself “there has GOT to be an easy way to buy tires” but I had no idea where to look for such a thing.
Man, I wish I had known about TireRack.com back then!
TireRack.com is a website all about, well, tires. (Okay, that’s actually not true. They do also have other car and truck products on the site, but the bulk of the information is about tires.) TireRack is pretty much your one stop shop for anything tire related. You can go there and figure out what sizes of tires would work on your vehicle simply by plugging in the make and model. This was helpful for me as I know nothing about tire sizes and had no clue what size I needed.
Once you know the size you need, you can find all of the available options with a quick click. So rather than schlep out to a tire store and try to decipher which tires would work for you, you get to sit on your comfy couch and click away. I had a number of winter tires that would fit on my SUV.
Now, before choosing a brand and style of tire, you want to know which one is the best for what you are looking for. This is where TireRack is soooo helpful.
If you were standing in your local tire store, you would have to rely on the advice of the salesperson you were talking to.
On TireRack.com, you have access to all kinds of customer reviews. Now, who would you rather go to for advice on which tire to buy – the salesman who will most likely be getting a commission from your sale and would love to sell you the most expensive tire OR real customers who not only bought the tires you are looking at, but have been driving around on them in the real world? Yep – me too! You can easily read reviews of any tires you are considering and the reviews include how many miles the owner has driven on them, where they are located, what kind of driving they do and what their driving style is. Talk about thorough!
Once you have decided on which tires you would like to buy, you need to choose where to have them installed. (If you are an automotive DIY person, you can absolutely do it yourself.) TireRack makes it super easy to find a place you trust. Just plug in your zip code and a list of local automotive shops will pop up. You choose which one you would like. There were a bunch in my local area, so I only drove a couple of miles to have my tires installed. TireRack only works with the best, so you know anyone you choose will treat you well.

Wow, I didn’t even realize you could buy tires online and have a garage install them. Just curious – did the tires ship to your house? Or directly to the installer?
Christine – I had them shipped to the garage as part of the installation package. You can have them ship to your home if you are a DIY-type person also.
We need new tires, at least 2 of them. I have to see about this. I hate going to the place to get new tires.

Wow! That sounds pretty easy. I never know which tires to pick for my car…honestly, I usually leave it up to my husband. I’ve never heard of TireRack. I can see how it would be super useful, though.
