It’s gonna be a great summer!

I haven’t exactly made it a secret that I often miss the East Coast. I miss the scenery, the ocean, the people.

But I have to say that Milwaukee has wound up being a great place to have a family. There are TONS of things to do, especially during the (short) summer. I was worried that Little J and I would be at loose ends with school out – not to fear!

First there are the festivals. LOTS of festivals (think one almost every weekend).

Then there are the fairs. Our favorites are definitely the Washington County Fair and State Fair, but most of the local county ones are loads of fun.

Then there are the activities at local attractions. Little J is taking his first summer of classes at the Milwaukee County Zoo. After the first class last Wed, I have to say, they do an awesome job! They keep the classes super small (which can also make them hard to get into) and lots of fun. I couldn’t believe how much my little sponge soaked up in just a few hours. He was able to identify four different biomes by name and knew what animals lived in each…and he had a blast learning it!

So between all that, and the T-ball, swimming lessons, gymnastics classes, and Y camp I signed him up for, I am no longer worried about boredom! In fact, we are going to be pretty busy…
