Milwaukee County Zoo Egg Day a Success Despite Rain

Saturday was Egg Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo. We decided to attend even though the local weather forecasters were calling for steady showers.

Sure enough, by the time we pulled into the parking lot, it was raining pretty hard. We pulled out our umbrellas and made a mad dash toward the entrance. We arrived just in time to see “The Bubbleman” – one of LJ’s favorite people! (We saw him last year at Egg Day and LJ talked about him for days.) We settled in for what we knew would be a great show.

Geoffrey “Merlin” Akins travels around performing his bubble magic for kids of all ages. He embodies a blend of scientist, showman, and motivational speaker. He dazzles his audience with amazing bubble tricks (poking a pencil inside a bubble without popping it, blowing bubbles inside other bubbles and even creating a square bubble), teaches scientific principles in a fun, engaging way (he’s a former teacher of course!!) and peppers his show with encouragement and inspiration often prompting the audience to proclaim “Anything is possible!”.

The highlight of the show for LJ was when he was called up to assist with a magic trick!

If you are interested in booking The Bubble Wonders Show for your party or event, you can find more information at http://www.bubbleshows.com/. (This isn’t a sponsored post – I just think he’s really cool!!)
After the bubble show, we spent some time walking around and stopped by the Peck Center where LJ made an Easter Basket and sported some bunny ears.

We even ventured over to the Family Farm for a wet, but successful, scavenger hunt.
We had a great time despite the damp weather and plan to continue making Egg Day part of our yearly Easter tradition.
