Deal with Migraine Pain without Medication
Most people who know me just casually probably have no idea that I suffer from somewhat frequent migraines. Those who know me well have probably seen me at least once in the throes of a nasty bout with them. Usually that means lying down in a dark room with little light or sound, probably medication, and possibly even throwing up. It’s not fun and it’s so much more than just “a headache”.
I can’t remember exactly when they started. I know that in college I was kind of famous for leaving my English lit papers to the last minute and typing away late through the night and into the early morning and still managing to pull an “A” on them. I even made the case that I worked best this way. I took an uneventful year off after graduating and then started graduate school. By then I must have had at least a few bad ones because I remember being very vigilant about having all of my papers done at least two days early, just in case.
I finally went and saw a doctor about the migraines when I started teaching. Taking medicine that makes you all woo-woo and lying down in a dark room isn’t really an option when you are in charge of a room full of children. And talk about loud?? Oh my. The doctor gave me some newer meds and they worked for a while. When they would stop working, we would try another. The problem was that, even if the medicine offer relief initially, it usually didn’t last. And since I could only take it once every 24 hours, I was left in pain again with no options. Plus some of those medications are expensive!! Sheesh. Nothing seemed to be a good fit. We even discussed botox injections (no – not to reduce my wrinkles! It’s actually a migraine treatment.) But I do not have frequent enough migraines to quality for that treatment option – which I guess is good??
Now that I am a mom and a business owner, I have even less time to deal with migraines. Add to that the fact that I have really moved away from wanting to take any kind of drugs and would much prefer to use a homeopathic remedy whenever possible and you might think I am up a creek should a migraine hit.
Luckily, there is a product on the market that offers migraine pain relief without medication – Stopain Migraine. Stopain Migraine is a fast acting topical gel that can be applied to the back of the neck and behind the ears up to four times daily. (Yep 4 times!!) For me, if I can catch the migraine when I first feel it starting to come on, one application helps me halt it in its tracks. If the migraine is too far developed, Stopain Migraine at least makes it bearable for me to finish what I need to get done without being completely laid up.

Stopain Migraine has a cooling feeling when you apply it – similar to how I remember those “after sun” sprays feeling when I was younger. It’s got mentholum as an ingredient so it does smell a bit like a cough drop – but better. It’s super easy to dispense by using the pump attached to the bottle.

Now, please use common sense here. If you’ve never had a migraine before and you are suddenly struck with severe head pain, GO SEE A DOCTOR!! There are a whole slew of not very good things that could be causing your pain. But if you are a chronic migraine sufferer and you’ve already checked out any other causes of your pain, Stopain Migraine is a great addition to your arsenal of pain fighting tools. You can even use it in conjunction with other medications without fear of any drug interactions.
