Grilled Fruit with Strawberry Cream Cheese Dip and Turkey Burgers – Using Weight Watchers Cheeses

My love affair with my grill has definitely grown deeper over the last few weeks.  With record heat here in the Midwest, the thought of turning on the stove is just painful.  Add in the fact that I have started grilling things I didn’t even know could be grilled, and I am in heaven.

I recently discovered that the new trend in grilling is to grill romaine lettuce.  I thought it sounded a bit odd, but figured I’d give it a go and now LOVE it.  I just add a little light Caesar dressing and some shaved Parmesan cheese and you have a killer salad! The trick is to split the head down the middle and then just grill the romaine enough so that the outside leaves char a bit. Also, make sure that the lettuce is dry or it will wilt more than you’d like.

I also recently discovered grilled fruit.  I started off doing all kinds of fancy glazes with honey and/or sugar and found that I love the sweet smokey flavor of the fruit grilled with its own juice.  If it’s really ripe, it doesn’t need anything else before it hits the grill.

And, of course, I love my grilled burgers.  Serve them up dripping with cheese and I’m even happier!  Unfortunately, they are not always waistline friendly – especially with the cheese – so I was pretty happy when Weight Watchers came out with some foods you can pick up at your local supermarket to help cut down on the grilling calories. (Which is something I really need to do if I am going to be grilling out every night!)

I started off by trading in my big beef patty for a turkey burger.  I usually shy away from turkey burgers as I find them to be a bit lacking in the taste department.  This time, I slapped on a piece of Weight Watchers Pepper Jack sliced cheese which gave the burger a nice creamy kick and absolutely loved it.

While I could eat grilled fruit straight off of the kabob, LJ isn’t as crazy about grilled fruit.  Or I should say he wasn’t as thrilled until I introduced him to the strawberry cream cheese dip I made using Weight Watchers whipped strawberry cream cheese!  It was really good!!

Don’t worry – I’m including the recipes down at the bottom of the post!!

In the mean time, here is a coupon you can use to get $1 off when you purchase the Weight Watchers items I talked about in my meal – enjoy!!

Thanks so much to Weight Watchers and Mom Select for partnering with me and allowing me to share these dishes.  I was provided with product and compensation, but my thoughts and opinions are my own as always!

  1. I haven’t seen these before. I’ll buy anything if it saves me calories and tastes good as well!
