Chateau Ste. Michelle Offers a Variety of Rieslings
Last week, I had the chance to attend Gathering on the Green in Mequon. While this is a well known yearly event, I had not even attended before. I am so glad that I did this year – it was really a lot of fun!
There were lots of local restaurants serving up all kinds of delicious food. I was so happy to find that it was not the typical “fair food” that is at so many of the summer events. My friend Eileen and I enjoyed delicious, healthy meals from North Star Bistro and followed up with delicious frozen custard from my favorite local custard place, Robert’s.

Entertainment was first class live music. First we were treated to the local duo Jamit who played everything you can imagine and played it all well. Eileen and I were so impressed with the variety of styles these guys pulled off! Next was the Chicago cast of Jersey Boys performing a variety of hits from the fifties and sixties.

The highlight of our evening was visiting the sampling tent of our hosts, Chateau Ste. Michelle. Based out of Washington, they are the only winery to have a huge variety of Rieslings. We tried the Dry Riesling, Columbia Valley Riesling, and Harvest Select Sweet Riesling.

Each one was unique and really good. Preferring a dry wine myself, I was definitely partial to the Dry Riesling but really did enjoy each different variety. I’ve never been sure what to do with a sweet wine, but the ladies who know more about wine than I do suggested pairing it with a spicier meal. I am looking forward to trying that soon!!

The wine manager at my local Balistreri Sendik’s was nice enough to call and let me know that they are currently carrying the Chateau Ste. Michelle line of Rieslings on sale this week for $6.99 (regularly $10.99). Of course I hopped right over and restocked my wine cellar!!
A big thank you to the folks for Chateau Ste. Michelle for inviting Eileen and myself out and showing us such a good time!! Despite plying me with great food, entertainment and (of course) wine, all opinions expressed are completely my own!

You need to try Hefner’s in Cedarburg for custard – BEST place, hands down.
