Aa-aa-achoo!

I have suffered from allergies since I was a kid. Typically, they begin in spring and last until the first frost – you know, basically through all of the fun months! Usually I can keep them under control with a steady dose of OTC medication.

This year appears to be different.

At first, I thought my meds weren’t working since I was taking them regularly but still suffering from itchy eyes, a stuffy nose and a scratchy throat. I then began wondering if there was something else going on and promptly made an appointment with my doctor (affectionately known in my mommy circle as Dr. McCutie). Dr. McCutie assured me that I was quite healthy and just suffering the effects of a particularly bad pollen year.

He did offer me an alternative treatment – nose spray. I’ve tried that before and did not like it. At. all. So I went on my merry way figuring I’d just tough it out.

Went the folks at Mom Central and Hall’s contacted me about trying their cough drops as an allergy relief tool, I perked up a bit. I hadn’t thought of treating my stuffy nose like a cold – it just might work!

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised that I got almost instant relief upon popping a Hall’s cough drop. It cleared my nose within 10 to 15 seconds and lasted a bit after I finished the drop. It obviously doesn’t provide the ongoing relief that medication does, but it is great for clearing out your nose at those particularly bad times, like right after I wake up or before I go to bed (warning: do NOT fall asleep with the cough drop in your mouth…you could choke or spit it out in your sleep only to wake up with it stuck in your hair, like I did).

Halls comes in a variety of flavors and even a sugar-free option. You can find them at most local grocery stores or pharmacies.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Halls and received products necessary to facilitate my candid review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.
