Space Bags Giveaway

With the drastic change in temperatures we experience here, the change of seasons bring some interesting challenges. One of those is the fact that we tend to have three different sets of clothes – spring/fall, winter, and summer.

Factor in school clothes, play clothes, jackets, and everything else and you’ve got quite a pile! So what to do with them when they are out of season? Until recently, I had been storing them in plastic tote containers, but they took up a lot of room. Then I started seeing those Space Bags commercials and I wondered if they really worked.

Not long ago, someone from Space Bags contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in trying them out. (Perhaps they had read my confession of how much I love all things from infomercials!) Of course I said yes.

I piled up some of the clothes I had been meaning to put into bins. There was quite a bit, huh? space bagsThis is what it looked like once I had put them into the Space Bags.

I did learn a few things while using them:

It’s better to use a bag that’s a little too big than one that’s too small. One bag said that it could hold a comforter and two pillows. I managed to fit one queen comforter in it – no way were any pillows going to fit.

Lay the clothes/objects flat in the bag for the best results. At first I just crammed my stuff into the bag, sealed it, and vacuumed. They came out very uneven and rather bumpy, not like you see in the ad. Once I laid everything flat and smooth, it shrank down just like in the ad.

Make sure you read the directions. I know, it seems like it shouldn’t need directions. I mean, how hard can it be? Seal and vacuum, right? But you do need to know things like to keep the top inch of the bag clear in order to get the best results.

Since the Space Bags people were so generous, I have some extras to give away! The winner will win a sample pack with an assortment of Space Bags in different sizes.

  2. Our biggest storage problem is linens! We live in Texas in a house with minimal storage. Come summertime, we throw the comforters off and have nowhere to store them. This would be the perfect solution.

  3. My biggest problem area by far is out of season clothes that are sizes between my two boys. Too small for one, too big for the other. All the in between stages take up way to many bins in my basement.

  4. My biggest storage challenge is when we travel overseas–my family runs a non-profit in Uganda, and this spring we had about 300 business shirts & ties for the men there…we weren’t able to take them because of the bulk, but it just occurred to me that space bags would help us be able to take them all to these men and boys! I would love to win these and see if they help us take much-needed clothing over to our friends in Uganda.
    Thanks!

  5. What a great contest. My biggest storage problem is sheets and blankets. My house is drafty and I need the extra blankets in the winter, but have a rough time finding storage space during the rest of the year.

  6. My biggest problem is living in an old house with small closets for our family. This was o.k. when the kids were small, but not now when they’re teenagers. We’re running out of space and I’d love to try these bags out because finding room for everyone’s stuff is frustrating.

  7. My biggest storage problem is the four seasons. My kids have lots of clothes and when the older ones out grow thier season clothes. I dont have enough room to store them.

  8. My biggest storage problem is all of my son’s old clothes. As he grows out of them I save them (the ones that make it lol) and would love a compact place to store all of them until they’re needed for future children.

(I just left a comment before this how I am following you on Twitter :/ I forgot to put my email address in it, though.

  10. Out of season clothes and linens are my biggest challenges. When I travel I ride a Harley so getting everything packed can be a challenge too since we don’t trailer.

  11. In my house, we have a lot of flat floor space, but not very much in the way of shelving and drawers, I think this could help quite a bit.
    Thanks!

  12. I’m way too much of a clothes-horse. And since I have to have a winter wardrobe, it takes up a lot of room just sitting around in the warmer months.

  13. My biggest challenge is storing blankets and quilts. They can take up so much room. Hubby and I both come from families of quilters, so we have a lot of them.

  14. My biggest storage challenge is having too many awkward things to store. There is just no easy way to store hockey gear, hockey sticks, and other sports equiptment from my husband. He also has so many uniforms that have to be stored a certain way as to not wrinkle.

  21. My biggest storage problem is my 3 mastiffs beds. I need to store the summer beds during the winter and the winter beds during the summer after they are washed. Talk about a headache!!!

  22. I lost a closet when I remodeled my house. Not having an extra closet to stash stuff has cramped all the rest of them. My extra bedding is now taking up room in my dresser.

    Thanks for the giveaway >^..^

  23. Everything – especially clothes. We have one closet and our home is less than 1K square feet. Storage is at a premium around here. trinitygsd at yaooo dot com

  24. I used to have TONS of storage problems, but we recently moved. Now our biggest issue is our ‘extra’ sheets, pillows and blankets. Our linen closet is bursting at the seems. I’d love to compress a few comforters! my email is littleheathen9109 @ yah00 d0t c0m

  25. My biggest storage challenge is storing comforters, blankets and sheets. We live in a condo and have limited storage space and these are bulky items that take up a lot of space.

  26. My biggest challenge is to make sure evrything is nice and stacked away that all the lids fit on the boxes and its neat and organized

  27. My biggest storage challenge is clothing. In our house, we have a serious lack of closet space and way too many clothes – it would scare you if you saw it!
