How to Keep Your Kitchen Smelling Fresh

I love a fresh smelling house and will go to some pretty big lengths to keep it that way. I’ve even been known to make my husband cook bacon on the patio so the house doesn’t smell like smoked meat for days! One of the stinkiest places in the house can be the kitchen. I’m thrilled to be partnering with affresh® as a paid ambassador to share a few quick and easy tips to help keep your kitchen smelling fresh and clean.

Use the exhaust fan over the stove.

The exhaust fan is your best friend when you are cooking something stinky in the kitchen. I love brussel sprouts but hate the way my kitchen smells when I cook them. Turning on the exhaust fan can help with that. Many people only use their exhaust fans when they burn something, but they are a great solution for keeping cooking odors at bay. An exhaust fan on its higher settings can quickly move the air from in your kitchen outside. If it’s not too cold, crack a window or door to allow the fan to pull in some fresh air as well.

Keep the fridge clean.

I know, cleaning out the fridge is no fun at all. But having spoiled or expired products in the fridge can be contributing to that not-so-fresh smell in your kitchen. Check the specific directions for your refrigerator model, but most can be cleaned with a cloth, warm water, and a mild dish soap. Take all items out and wipe down the shelves and interior walls of the fridge. Don’t forget to remove and wash out any drawers (and check underneath them as well).

Clean your disposal.

I’ll bet a lot of you are scratching your heads at this one! With the amount of soapy water that goes down ours after doing the dishes, you’d think it would be squeaky clean, right? But all of the food, grease, and other gunk that also goes down there can build up into odor causing residue and it doesn’t just rinse off with a little soapy water. All that build up can begin to stink (and it’s kind of gross too). Luckily, affresh® Disposal Cleaner quickly and easily takes care of your problem.

All you need to do is open the affresh® Disposal Cleaner packet, turn on your kitchen sink warm water on a low stream, drop the tablet into the disposal and switch it on.

The powerful foaming action lets you know it’s working and the citrus scent is fresh and clean!

You can purchase affresh® Disposal Cleaner at your local retailer or on Amazon
