The 5 Times a Bluesmart Suitcase Could Save Your Trip

As a frequent traveler, I have come to really appreciate how having the right accessories and tools can help make a trip successful. I’m always on the hunt for anything that will make my trip more comfortable, more efficient, or safer. When I first learned about the Bluesmart suitcase and all of its unique features, I could think of so many times it would have gotten me out of different travel challenges! I’m excited to share these five times the Bluesmart suitcase would have made a big difference in this post that is sponsored by Bluesmart.

The features the Bluesmart suitcase offers could easily save your trip in any number of different situations:

1) When your child sets down his carry-on in a busy airport and walks away from it.

I wish this was a hypothetical situation! We were on our way to the Disney Social Media Moms Conference at Disneyland and the whole family was pretty excited as it was our first family trip to Disneyland. The flight had gone quite well and Josh was in charge of his own carry-on bag which contained a change of clothes and pretty much every electronic device he owned. We landed in LAX and headed down to baggage claim. Once we had rounded up all of our checked bags, we headed outside to hop on the Magical Express. I looked at Josh and freaked out – he didn’t have his carry-on! All I could think of were all of those announcements about not leaving luggage unattended and the vision of his carry-on being blown up flashed through my mind. We had some pretty panicked moments retracing our steps trying to find that luggage! (Luckily it was sitting harmlessly between two people waiting for their checked bags and each thought it belonged to the other.)

The Bluesmart Carry-on can be tracked anywhere in the world, powered by 3G-connectivity (in partnership with Telefonica), allowing users to recover their lost bags from airlines.

2) When you watch your checked bag riding down the conveyor belt and realize you are still holding the luggage lock in your hand.

I’d love to say I have a single example of this happening to tell you about, but I’ve done this more times than I care to admit. And then I spend the entire flight (layover included) worrying about my completely unprotected luggage contents. Most airlines frown on passengers climbing onto the conveyor belt and trying to secure the lock as it’s making its way to the baggage area. I may just speak from experience…

The Bluesmart suitcase features a Bluetooth-enabled remote lock that lets users lock and unlock their bags from their smartphones and that locks automatically when the bag is separated from the user thus eliminating the need to chase it down any conveyor belts while trying to attach a lock.

3) When you felt the need to buy a souvenir at every single store you visited while on vacation and you wind up paying an extra $50 because your bag is now over the weight limit.

Yes, I may have a small hoarding issue when it comes to vacation souvenirs – I admit it. I tend to go a bit overboard on the whole mementos thing and have even been known to pack my suitcase so full that it was significantly over the weight limit. Jay was already less than thrilled that I had purchased so many items on our trip and he was even less thrilled when we had to pay an extra $50 because I didn’t distribute the weight evenly through our various suitcases. Oops.

The Bluesmart suitcase features a built-in scale that communicates the exact weight of the suitcase to the companion app, helping users avoid paying extra baggage fees because of an excessive souvenir habit.

4) When you plan to get lots of work done on your flight only to realize you never charged your tablet when you pull it out and find 5% battery left.

I’m one of those people who actually gets quite a bit of work done on flights. There’s something about being tied down to my chair (literally) that keeps me a little more focused than when I’m at home with tons of distractions.  Usually trips are pretty hectic and I count on that in flight time to either get ahead with my work on my way to wherever I’m going or to catch up on the way home. Having a dead tablet or phone battery is a huge productivity killer!

Bluesmart provides 2 USB chargers that can be used simultaneously. You can charge any USB rechargeable device (such as phones, tablets, or eBook readers). An external USB port is placed on the exterior behind the handle, for easy access and fast plug/unplug. On the inside, there is an additional USB port that allow charging while on the go.

5) When you have 10 minutes to run to another terminal and get to the gate or your connecting flight is going to leave without you.

When I was in my twenties, I went with my dad on one of his international business trips. I clearly remember him warning me to never pack more to carry on than I could run with through an airport. That turned out to be really good advice as I’ve found myself in the position of making that dash from one terminal to another with only minutes to make the sprint more than once. Having a heavy carry-on suitcase can make the difference between making your connection or missing your flight.

The Bluesmart is strong, but made of extremely light materials, like polycarbonate and aluminum, to keep the weight of the suitcase at a minimum – only 8.5 lbs to be exact.

I’m sure you can see why I’m such a huge Bluesmart fan. It almost seems like Bluesmart has been following me around and taking notes on my various travel catastrophes and then come up with a suitcase that solves all of those problems!

Which Bluesmart feature would be the biggest lifesaver for you?
